
If we talk about the largest city in the county of Somerset, England it is none other than Bath. This city is famously known for its baths which were built by the Romans. Bath is the city which is located in the valley of River Avon. This city is located near to London and is very near to Bristol as well.
The city is only 156 km or 97 miles from the west of London and if we calculate its distance from Bristol it is only 11 miles or 18 km from South-east Bristol. The city is a world heritage site. It became this world heritage site in the year 1987.
The city has been known by the name Bath because Romans had built many baths here in the city and also they built a temple in this valley of River Avon. There were many hot springs in this valley even before that, because of this reason many baths were built in this city by the Romans.
Keeping history on one side, if we talk about modernization and business, this city is not behind in these aspects also. Bath has many industries like the software industry, publishing industry, and many other service-oriented industries as well. Besides these the city also has theatres, museums and many other venues where cultural and other sports events are held. Because of this, it is a major center for many tourists all over the world. More than one million tourists visit this city every year. The number of visitors visiting the city during day time is almost four times more than the number of visitors staying in the city. A study has reported that about 3.8 million day visitors visit the city every year and 1 million are reported to be the night visitors to the city.
